Half Day Trekking Volcano Terevaka

Leaving the village of Hanga Roa by car we drive until we arrive at Ahu Akivi. There our hike uphill starts, aprox. 500 mts. until we arrive at the top of the youngest volcano of Easter Island, Maunga Terevaka. We appreciate the most beautiful 360º view around the coast of the island, ocean where-ever you look. Here one really feels like being on the most remote island in the world. After having a rest we start to hike down through an eucalyptus forest until we arrive at the old sheep farm, Vaitea, where our car picks us up and brings us back to the hotel.

 

 

 

Full-day Trekking North Coast to Anakena Beach

        Start by car along westcoast and drive until Ahu Tepeu. From there walk along the the untouched north/eastcoast to the beach of Anakena. On the way visit platforms, caves + petroglyphs.This walk will take you aprox. 6 hours. Enjoy a swim at the beach and a box lunch then pickup with cars and back to the village.

Half Day Boattrip to 3 Motus  – approx. 3 hrs.

We get to port Hanga Piko by car. From here we continue our trip by boat to the islands Motu Iti, Motu Nui and Motu Kao Kao from where you can see the ceremonial village of Orongo. Participants of the birdman competition had to swim to the island of Motu Nui in order to find the egg of the Sooty Tern. We navigate along the coast of the island and enjoy a beautiful view of the village Hanga Roa. We arrive opposite the ceremonial site Tahai where we see the monumental statues on their platforms as did the navigators in the 18th century. After that we will return to the port of Hanga Piko and then to the hotel.

 

 

 

 

Or experience the island on horseback :

 

 

Half Day horseback ride to volcano Rano Kau and Orongo, aprox. 3,5 hrs.

        A horseback ride to Rano Kau volcano and Orongo archeological site where we will see ancient ruins of a ceremonial village and the biggest accumulation of petroglyphs in the whole polinesian area. From Rano Kau we have a spectacular view of the island and its rocky coast and volcanoes, at another point we can see the craterlake with its growth of totora reed, another breathtaking view.

 

 

 

Half Day Horseback ride to Akivi - aprox. 3,5 hrs.

        An experienced spanish speaking guide will pick you up at the hotel and you will start riding along the north/west coast of the island passing the ceremonial village of Tahai. Along the way we visit attractive caves and then arrive at Ahu Akivi. We spend some time there to take a rest and then ride back to the hotel.

 

 

Or are you more inclined to go under water :

 

Half Day Scuba diving – approx. 3 hrs.

        The waters around Rapa Nui are famous for excellent visibility (up to 75m) and convenient temperature all year over. We swim amidst endemic fish, see gigantic corals and a breathtaking underwater landscape that was created by the volcanic origin of the island. Equippment included.

 

 

 

 

 

Or just go snorkeling in the same boat with the divers.
